Album of Tartu County song festivals to be published by the time of festival

Press statement 4.03.2009

A book titled "Tartu Song Festivals Album" written by Juhani Püttsepp and designed by Maarja Roosi will be published by the time of Tartu Song Festival of 13 June 2009. Donations are welcome to support its publication and advanced booking has also begun.
The writer Juhani Püttsepp says: "Preparing for the 2009 festival, the book tells the story of past song festivals in Tartu County and the roots of the tradition in the form of a festive album. We've tried to build bridges between the past and the present and looked at both today's and former leading organizers. The album should, in fact, be seen as a song with its own flow - first and foremost one integral work of art, not just a reference book. An old song we are now joyously singing again".
The album contains a short summary in English, which makes it a distinguished gift for visitors, too. It includes a list of all song festivals in Tartu County until today and of all participants of this year's festival. The book has 144 pages, on all of which interesting design plays an important role besides the text.
In a big part, the publication of the book is supported by the Foundation for Tartu Song and Dance Festivals at the Cultural Endowment of Tartu. To date, donations have been made in addition to the city of Tartu by several municipalities in Tartu County and some funds have been collected at Cultural Endowment's donation box concerts (to borrow the donation box, please contact the Cultural Endowment).
You can support the song festival album by transferring your donation to the bank account No 10102052050006 of "SA Tartu Kultuurkapital" in SEB (IBAN EE251010102052050006), giving "Tartu Laulupidu" as the payment's explanation. Cultural Endowment of Tartu will enter into an agreement with the donating company for accounting purposes. Bigger donors will be listed in the book (legal persons from 5,000 kroons and natural persons from 500 kroons). All donors will be mentioned on Tartu Song Festival's webpage (https://2009.tartulaulupidu.ee) and on Cultural Endowment of Tartu's webpage (http://www.kultuurkapital.ee).
"Tartu Song Festivals Album" can be ordered in advance. Pre-order price for one copy is 250 kroons (projected shop price is 375 kroons). Advance booking is open until 15 April.
