Estonian Prime Minister Andrus Ansip will be the patron of Tartu Song Festival that will take place on 13 June 2009. Accepting the role, he said: „Song festival is a matter close to my heart. Be it big or small, it is important for us all. In my opinion, every Estonian should experience singing together under singing arc during their lives“.

Over 6,000 singers, dancers and instrumentalists of groups from Tartu and its surrounding area are expected to participate. A number of concerts are planned for the festival week and a book on the history of song festivals in Tartu County will be published before the festival.
