The first song festival in Tallinn. The government’s permission for the song festival was obtained faster this time around as celebrating the twenty-fifth year in the reign of Tsar Alexander II was given as the formal reason for the festival. The programme consisted of 14 songs and some orchestral pieces with one-half of them representing original Estonian music. Even some female singers were brought in the front of the audiences as members of two mixed choirs.
